ROSNEFT Expands Oil-bearing Formations in West-Irkinskoye Oilfield

18.08.2021

During complex geological surveys for the Vostok Oil Project the Rosneft company has discovered expanded oil-bearing formations within the West-Irkinskoye oilfield. While drilling the West-Irkinskaya-32 oil well, over 50 meters of potentially oil-bearing formations were drilled and over 100 meters of core samples were recovered. Currently they are being researched to better estimate the reservoir volume in order to expand the Vostok Oil project resource base. The well tests are continuing.

This well was drilled with the SLC-JH DQ50BQ-JH top drive. Non-stop operation of the top drive is ensured by a team of SLC engineers providing 24/7 service support, including regular maintenance and necessary repairs.

The West-Irkinskoye oilfield is unique in its characteristics, it was discovered in 2020 on the Taymyr Peninsula of the Krasnoyarsk Region. Total recoverable reserves are estimated at over 500 mln ton of oil and over 138 bln cubic meters of dissolved C1+C2 gas.
