Unique Oil Wells Built in Yakutia
15 сентября 2020 года 15.09.2020In the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) the VPT-Neftemash company has built yet another unique fishbone oil well which has several sidetracks stemming from the main horizontal bore. This design allows for covering greater part of an oil-bearing formation with fewer drilling operations than drilling separate wells for each horizontal bore. Although drilling a single multilateral well is cheaper than several horizontal ones, an assembly geosteering is much more complicated and requires using a top drive, as well as a special downhole assembly and a team of highly qualified professionals on every step of the way. The VPT-Neftemash’s wellbore measured depth is 3890 m, total drilled length is over 8000 m.
The well was drilled using the SLC-JH DQ50B-JH top drive mounted onto the Uralmash 3000 EUK-1M mobile drilling rig. A rotary steerable system (RSS) was used for precision drilling and achieving required drilling speed. The SLC Group professional crew maintained the top drive’s smooth operation 24/7 and provided necessary service support and repairs for VPT-Neftemash.
The DQ50B-JH, along with DQ50BQ-JH and DQ50BQIII-JH, is the favorite top drive of numerous drilling companies. It can be used for drilling complicated wells stretching up to 5000 meters deep (Using 114 mm drilling pipes) within the shortest terms.
The top drive is equipped with a 500 horse power asynchronous frequency-regulated electric motor, which allows for controlling rotation speed between 0 and 180 rpm and provides up to 40 kNm of torque.
